Insulated Glass

Insulating Glass units are hermetically sealed combinations of two lites of glass that are separated by an air spacer. Insulated units improve thermal performance, and can reduce heating and air conditioning costs. Insulated units also reduce interior condensation in cold climates.

Insulating glass units are fabricated according to the specifications of the customer. Insulated units can be constructed using a wide variety of glass products to achieve desired aesthetics, meet design criteria, safety codes and to improve solar control and thermal performance.

Glass options include clear, Low-E's, standard or high performance, tints, reflective, spandrel, laminated, decorative and wired glass. The glass lites of an Insulated unit can be annealed, heat-strengthened, tempered or laminated.

The standard 1" commercial Insulated unit is made up of two lites of 1/4" glass and a 1/2" air space. Custom Insulated unit designs can be fabricated with glass thicknesses ranging from 1/8" to 3/4" and with airspace thicknesses ranging from 3/16" to 7/8" having standard spacer colors of clear, bronze and black anodized, and mill finish aluminum. Maximum sizes for IG units are determined by a number of considerations including the thickness, weight, aspect ratio, application and load requirements.
